With this partnership, Budweiser Canada receives ECOLOGO Certified Renewable Energy Certificates, equivalent to the electricity used to brew Budweiser. The Certificates are supported by Direct Energy and are sourced from across Canada from 100% renewable biomass, hydro-electric (water) and wind power sources.

  • I have some big issues with biomass.

    a) it emits CO2

    b) It causes deforestation

    c) they often say it’s leftover or unusable wood, but they cut down whole forests

It’s a marketing scam, it’s far from been ‘”green”.

  • Agreed. I don’t consider it a renewable or sustainable energy source. For one thing, climate change is increasing erosion and depleting oxygen levels and water supplies. It isn’t “when clear cut areas grow back” it’s more like “if they grow back at all.”

  • Steve MacLellan It is one of the reasons why BECCS is much criticized by scientists.

The other one is the astronomical quantity of CO2 needs to be extracted and “safely” stored underground.

Kevin Anderson (for one) has much reserves on BECCS.
