The report finds that over the last three fiscal years, the Alberta government has subsidized the fossil fuel industry by $1.6 billion each year, with over $2 billion in subsidies alone in 2017/18. Think of what could have been done with that money instead.
They could have put a lot of people to work building solar and wind projects so we aren’t so dependent on fossil fuels. But that would have been a win/win for the province and the unemployed. I believe corporate greed prevented this from happening.
