All that money spent on a dying industry. How about spending it on renewables instead?
Efficiency Alberta does that as well I believe. I know they offer rebates and assisted installation of solar panels as well as manage the:
The Carbon Competitiveness Incentive Regulation, which attracts investment in clean technology, protects and creates jobs and diversifies Alberta’s economy.
I’m not clear on how exactly this program works. Probably more info about it on one of their websites.
Just saw an ad for their solar rebate program for Edmonton:
Through a partnership with Energy Efficiency Alberta, the City of Edmonton is helping Edmontonians install solar systems on their homes to produce renewable energy.
Between both rebates you can get a large chunk of the cost of your installation covered. The City will chip in $0.15/watt towards the cost of the system, and Energy Efficiency Alberta will add in another $0.75/watt. Together that’s roughly a third of the cost of going solar!
