Built with construction techniques used in Europe for years, it’s designed to be up to 90 per cent more energy efficient than a standard house. Having a house built like this will add another 15-20% onto the cost. I’ve heard estimates from Energy Efficiency in Alberta that home owners account for 17% of the GHG emissions in this province. The population of the province is over four million. If we can transfer the expense of reducing the carbon footprint onto the backs of people then we can justify ramping up fossil fuel development.
What?!!
The “Big Five” are Suncor Energy, Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL), Cenovus Energy, Imperial Oil, and Husky Energy. They all forecast an increase in total emissions in the future due to their plans to increase bitumen production.
Think I’ll turn the heat up and go back to bed. #abpoli #cdnpoli
