It was sharks last year…
We had an extraordinarily frigid 2 day period which coincided with high seas due to strong northeasterlies. The Lower Cape is often the sight of strandings due to cold weather stunning. Many times these turtles can be rescued in time, but with temps more like January than November, these precious turtles had no chance. They used to migrate in October, but due to warming of the waters, seem to postpone their southern trip to November. This unusually cold period (about 20 F below usual) was their undoing. They did rescue a huge (over 400lb) loggerhead which was sent to a marine rescue facilty for treatment.
