The strange thing is that there is no mention of lab tests done to find the cause. This is the first thing which must be done when we talk about “deadly disease”.
I think they are testing in the US.

Thanks for the link – I will go into this still. Interesting though is that it is known for 50 years already.
By the way, have you considered what you will do when G+ abandons us?
I’ve been looking at different options but haven’t settled on anything yet. Found one called MeWe that is getting ready to add a script so you can import all of your content from Google+ but it seems more like FB. I’ve heard complaints about it as well.
Also thought of Tumblr and a couple of other places. I put up some test posts at tumblr.
What about you?

I heard about this one yesterday. It looks like a possibility too.
I can’t say anything. I need some help on this. We still have a bit of time.
I’ll also probably be the last one who buys a smart phone – only when we are forced to use it for payments.
By the way, have a look at that post of mine on the Drakensberg/South Africa.
Way up here is an enclave, Lesotho. Here, I ask you, with tears in my eyes, here they set up 5G. The other “guinea pigs” are in Tasmania. Sorry, I know I nerve everyone with this, but time will tell what MADNESS this is.
I’ve heard of the dangers of 5G, although I must admit I haven’t spent a lot of time studying it. Our service provider switched us over to 5G last Fall.
Steve MacLellan Ant Holzer Thanks. I need to look into open book.
I have an account on MeWe (same name same bird brain), they will be opening up to search engines and we can now post public. Those were my only concerns.
I’m also on Framasphere.
Slow, but I meet interesting people there.
Won’t see me on Fakebook, I thought of going there, but I read (and understood) their user agreement. I could never agree with that.

Without apex predators, diseased animals probably live longer and infect more of their herd.
grace diemand Forest is dying on Antiscosti Island because of that reason.
A. Randomjack Yes, saw that article this morning on one of my news feeds.
grace diemand Yes, I think I read that it’s contagious, and it’s definitely spreading.
This will illustrate how wolves, in particular can change the ecosystem:
vimeo.com – How Wolves Change Rivers
Yes! I’ve read how the Yellowstone National Park ecosystem has bounced back since the wolves were reintroduced. And I find it’s worrisome that the earth’s health is greatly dependent on all the other species… right down to the bugs and plankton.
If we destroy all of it, what to become of us?
Steve MacLellan Maybe it’s time to side with #ExtinctionRebellion eh
Steve MacLellan Well perhaps the Earth and Nature will decide that humans have outlived their usefulness, and smart viruses that are lethal but have not yet made the leap to infecting humans will do so, as is the theme in some sci-fi novels and movies.
grace diemand It could happen.
A. Randomjack I get newsletters from numerous environmental groups now. Most of them are always asking for donations. That’s okay, I guess. But I’ve had these newsletter come in from a few of these saying in capital letters, “We Won!”
Now this is a fact…. With three groups I received these messages from on different topics. The message goes on to give themselves a big pat on the back, and then I should donate some more so they can move on to bigger and better things.
In each of these cases I knew the whole story. Although they claimed the victory was theirs, it was actually a small win by the combined effort of several groups. So perhaps they were assuming that the majority of their subscriber list wasn’t well informed. Overall this seems a little deceptive to me.
I’ll follow Extinction Rebellion on FB for a while and see what they are about.
Steve MacLellan Beware of the wolf wearing a sheep skin.
You could be dealing with fakes… I would not be surprised if there was a bunch of those.
Good idea to follow em on FB, I’m not a member, but they do have some actions
that attract attention. They had one in NY, but I only heard about it on Redacted Tonight, the only news show I never miss. :))
youtube.com – Extinction Rebellion Shut Down Rockefeller Plaza
grace diemand VERY, very, interesting. This shows we must not meddle too much with our “natural” environment. Another proof is the changing the river flows like that what was done in Germany in the past. Nowadays, much effort and money has been spent on redoing this because of severe floods. The natural habitats that developed after this, changed the avifauna considerably.
Ant Holzer Nature seeks balance and harmony and strives for equilibrium. Actions have ripple effects that spread throughout the ecosystem. The Native Americans were right in saying that all living things are connected in a web of life. Anthropocene humans have decided that they are the masters of the universe and that it is all at their disposal to do with as they please. Nature has another plan that predates humans, a plan that has worked since Paleozoic times. Humans may be sowing the seeds of their own destruction.🌎🌎🔥🔥🌊🌊⚡⚡🌀🌀☄☄
A. Randomjack No such thing as the big, bad wolf. They are highly social, devoted to the welfare of the pack and they only kill what is necessary for the survival of the pack. We need to rid ourselves of all the negative sayings about wolves as non-critical thinkers use these false assumptions to justify the murder of wolves throughout the world.
grace diemand I think that these seeds are germinating. Very much to our disadvantage.
grace diemand Hey! I love wolves, but yes, I agree with you. It is (at best) hard to rid people of their fears and misconceptions.
May I recommend an audiobok to everyone here?
It explains a lot on how we think, or think we think…
youtube.com – Thinking, Fast and Slow Daniel Kahneman Audiobook Part 1
A. Randomjack Not directed at you personally, but we must stop with the memes that make it easy to victimize wolves. Same with sharks, who are being slaughtered worldwide due to poor press and falsely inflated risk to humans. Without apex predators, there is no balance.
grace diemand Did you say meme?
Profits are the deadliest of addictions
The problem about our attitudes towards wolf and sharks or anything else is, we all most often use “system 1” as in we jump to the simplest of conclusions, we look for cause and effect rather than think.
One example wide spread misconceptions: even among many (if not most) scientists is that our brains got bigger because we ate meat.
It is a very simple cause/effect reasoning.
It is rather language, sociability, art and tool making requiring “higher” brain functions that made human brains more complex.
If it was only about meat, snakes, crocs and sharks would have the biggest brains.
Meat may be a contributing factor since our brains require lots of energy, but it’s not “the cause”.
Anyhow.. this video is an excellent summary of the book I posted.
youtube.com – The Science of Thinking
Undoubtedly the development and use of language in its many parts helped, but we have much to learn about the brain, one of the most difficult organs to study in vivo. Size isn’t everything…
grace diemand Hey! you’re talking to a bird brain :))
“The brain is more complex than the universe it emerged from.”
So yes, we still have much to learn about it, but we sure learned a lot in the fast few decades.
But there’s also lots of pseudo and junk science about it also, as with all scientific topics.
95% of people believe they are smarter than average which opens the door to the arrogance of ignorance.
A. Randomjack Doh. There you go again! Birds are brilliant, resilient, and adaptable, so you are BRILLIANT!🦅🦆🦜🐦🦉
grace diemand Resilient and adaptable, quite likely. As for being brilliant, I’m merely overly curious and have lots of spare time.
My friend says I’m an hyperactive nerd… She knows best, she’s a fairy :))
Steve MacLellan it would interest me very much whether you are definitely ON 5G or if it has only been installed. As far as I know, 5G will be only switched on in 2020. In USA they are still trying to fight against it. Should you be interested you can glance into this:

We are using ‘Shaw cable’ in Edmonton.
“Some advanced WiFi modems broadcast two distinct WiFi networks: a 2.4GHz and a 5GHz network. These networks have the same name (SSID) with the 5GHz network followed by “-5G”.
Last Fall, we got the announcement about the 5G. My older desktop doesn’t support it, but to encourage most of us to adapt, in my humble opinion, they choked the 2.4G bandwidth, making it almost unusable.
I had to get an adapter that plugs into one of my USB inputs in order to access the 5G.
Actually I had to get two adapters. The signal keeps getting dropped. The 5G is faster, but where my office is downstairs from where the wireless modem is, I found out that the 5G doesn’t travel through walls and floors as well as the 2.4G
After a couple of months of struggling with these adapters, I left the USB unplugged, only to find out they had stopped throttling the 2.4G, and it was, once again, working fine. So I’m using it on my desktop. But my smart TV in this room still uses the 5G and so does my cellphone when it connects to the WiFi.
You can see the support doc, from the cable company, posted here on their website.
